The West Ham United defender James Collins has said that he is extremely delighted with the start made by the club in the defensive terms. West Ham United were recently promoted to the Premier league after spending the last season in the second division of English football.
On their return, they have managed to take a good start to the campaign and are currently without any relegation worries. They have managed to secure the signing of the former Aston Villa defender James Collins, who has returned to the club for the second spell. After starting in the last few matches, the player has said that he is extremely happy with the defensive start made by the team.
Even though the attack has not been able to score a lot of goals as they did in the championship last season, James Collins has said that the presence of Andy Carroll up front will provide them some quality in the forthcoming matches. The Liverpool striker is currently available for the manager Sam Allardyce after his loan move to the end of the season. However, he was injured in his second match for the club and is expected to be back only in the next few weeks.
“The manager has said to us about the importance of keeping clean sheets, because it always gives you a chance of winning any game. We have been working on that and apart from the match at Swansea, we have been on target. Against Norwich we had chances, so did they and people watching will probably wonder how it stayed 0-0,” said James Collins after the match against Norwich. West Ham have had three clean sheets in the Premier league so far, and they have played only six matches. The club are currently in the seventh position in the table.
